These terms govern your use of ConstrCalc. They are written to be read, not to be survived. If something here is unclear, ask us at info@constrcalc.com and we will explain it in plain language.
ConstrCalc is a calculation and reference tool for construction cost estimating. It performs arithmetic on figures you supply and presents the result, together with published documentation of every formula used.
It is not an estimating service, a quantity surveying practice, or a source of professional advice. It does not inspect your drawings, visit your site, or form a view about whether your figures are correct. The distinction matters: a calculator that multiplies your quantity by your rate is a different thing from a consultant who tells you what the quantity and rate should be.
Using the platform means accepting these terms. If you do not accept them, the appropriate response is not to use it. Continued use after a revision constitutes acceptance of the revised terms; material revisions are dated and described rather than introduced silently.
Every figure ConstrCalc produces is derived from values you entered, using formulas published in the Formula Library. Nothing is predicted, inferred, benchmarked against undisclosed data, or adjusted on your behalf.
This is a deliberate constraint. An estimate you cannot audit is an estimate you cannot defend to a client, and a tool that silently applies its own assumptions produces numbers whose provenance you cannot explain. The consequence is that output quality depends entirely on input quality. Supply a burdened labour rate and you get a burdened labour cost; supply a bare wage and you get an understated one. The arithmetic is reliable; the judgement remains yours.
You are responsible for verifying quantities against drawings, confirming rates with suppliers, applying appropriate wastage and contingency, and complying with the codes and consents that apply to your jurisdiction and project type.
Where a project carries structural, safety, statutory or contractual risk — which is most projects — engage a qualified professional licensed in the relevant territory. Nothing produced by this platform substitutes for a structural engineer, a quantity surveyor, a building control officer, or your own professional judgement.
The guides, country references, glossary and standard consumption figures are educational orientation. They reflect conventional practice for common construction types and are useful for sanity-checking an order of magnitude. They are not specifications, and they are not current in every market at every moment.
Codes are revised, tax treatments change, and municipal rules frequently override national defaults. Confirm the current position with the authority having jurisdiction before relying on any figure for a real decision.
You may use ConstrCalc for commercial estimating work, including work you bill to clients. You may export reports and incorporate them into your own documents. You may embed the read-only calculator widget on your own site.
You may not attempt to disrupt the service, misrepresent the platform as your own product, scrape the reference content wholesale for republication, or present its output as certified professional advice. Reproducing the guides or formula documentation as your own material is not permitted; linking to them is welcome.
The ConstrCalc name, interface, written guides, formula documentation and original graphics are ours. The estimates you produce are yours: we assert no ownership over your project data, your rates, or the reports you generate, and we could not exercise such a claim in any case, since that data never reaches us.
Standards and codes referenced in the guides remain the property of the bodies that publish them, and are cited for orientation rather than reproduced.
The platform is provided as-is. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we may change, suspend or withdraw features. Because calculator data is stored in your browser rather than on a server, a service interruption does not put your saved work at risk — but nor can we restore it if your own browser storage is cleared.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ConstrCalc is not liable for losses arising from use of the platform, including commercial losses from an underpriced bid, a missed cost category, a misapplied unit conversion, or reliance on reference material that has since changed.
This is not an attempt to disclaim everything. It reflects a genuine limit: we cannot see your project, your drawings, your market or your contract, so we cannot stand behind a figure whose inputs and context are entirely yours. Where local law does not permit the exclusion of certain liabilities, those liabilities are not excluded.
The platform displays advertising through Google AdSense, which funds free access. Advertisers do not influence the calculation logic, the formulas, or the editorial content of the guides. An advertiser cannot pay to have a material, method or supplier presented favourably.
ConstrCalc is used across many jurisdictions and no single national legal regime is imposed on all users. Where mandatory consumer or professional protections apply in your territory, they apply regardless of anything stated here. Disputes are addressed first by contacting us directly; we would rather resolve a problem than litigate one.
Questions about these terms, corrections to reference material, or notice of a problem should go to info@constrcalc.com. We reply within 48 hours on weekdays.
Saved projects live in your browser's local storage. They are not backed up by us, not synchronised between your devices, and not recoverable by us if lost. Treat the JSON export as the authoritative copy of anything commercially important, and store it wherever you keep other project records.
Exported PDF, Excel and Word reports are generated on your device and are yours to distribute. Once you send a report to a client or subcontractor, its contents are governed by your own confidentiality arrangements, not by these terms.
The platform supports entry and display in a range of currencies. Conversion is applied for display convenience using fixed reference rates, not live market rates, and those rates are not updated in real time.
Currency conversion in ConstrCalc is therefore an orientation aid, not a treasury function. Do not use a converted figure as the basis for a contractual sum, a tender submission, or a payment in another currency without confirming the applicable rate with your bank or finance team on the day.
The guides link to standards bodies, government agencies and industry organisations so you can verify a code or requirement at source. Those sites are outside our control. We select links for relevance and authority, but we do not warrant the accuracy or availability of external material, and a link is not an endorsement of any commercial relationship.
If you find a factual error in the reference material or an arithmetic result you believe is wrong, tell us. Substantive corrections are published with a dated note on the affected page, as set out in the Editorial Policy. We would rather be corrected than be quietly wrong.
